PostSubject: Foxfire discusion   Fri Jun 27, 2008 12:57 am

Well, Sage and I are creating a game called "FoxFire."

So this thread was made for us to discuss FoxFire.
Feel free to give Sage and I ideas for FoxFire, and y'all can help out a little too.

All help will be greatly appreciated.
More details are available here and here. Thank you.

A link to download and play the current version (0.0.1) can be found here.

Info:
Views: 3/4ths view, grid-based, 16*16, follows player
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy RPG (Yes, RPG. It can be done.)
Game Maker 7.0 Lite (currently contains no Pro functions, but could become Pro easily.)

You play as Sage J. Fox, an anthropomorphic fox in the year 2075. You are friends and partnered with Sam "Subcon" Grey, an anthro avian rodent (rat-bird). There is Bandit Waschbär, a thieving raccoon anthro who, although seeming to be your rival, helps you on occasion. There is a mysterious figure, known only as the Dark Master, who threatens the world. You must (eventually) stop him.

Characters:
1. Sage J. Fox
2. Bandit T. Waschbär

Controls:
Arrow Keys/Left Analog stick- move
Space/Button 2- open chests/doors, talk, etc.
C/Button 1- cut down bushes

*Link updated to version 0.0.1. The main additions to this version are bushes can be cut down, there is a (albeit small) help file, music, and gamepad (controller) compatibility, as well as (unnoticeable) improvements to movement and object interaction code, mainly putting less code in the step/key press events.
*Yes, I've noticed the occasional problem where you "get caught" in a bush after it's been cut down. I've already fixed it (but haven't updated the link).

I'm kind of helping out... just a bit... I havn't done anything though... But I have suggested stuff...

Ok tell the people who don't know what is the game about?
What view is it in? Is it in a view like Pokemon where it's above the player?

I downloaded the little beta V0 thing and I found a few things....

move then press d(don't stop moving until you press d) and then pres ok. You will start moving automatically without touching a thing. So? Not a big deal, and D won't even be used in later versions.
Also at first I was like where the hell am I and then Sage told me about the space button....maybe you should have an intro to the buttons before going into real gameplay... No. I posted the controls, and you can always just press F1 for the help file.
also talking to bandit continure to press space and he will answer you as if you answered fine... This is an automatic thing Game Maker does.
I have no other problem.... Good, but you might now since I edited your post instead of making a new post. ^w^

I also made a pic....
