Claims of a New DS Among more

Accordingto the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, Nintendo will be releasing a new model of the Nintendo DS in Japan near the end of 2008, this new DS has been reported to have improved wireless capabilities and some multimedia entertainment functions as well.

Among the new features are a digital camera to be used in new games and music playback capabilities. The Nikkei states that this new DS will be priced at under 20,000 yen ($230 AUD, $190 USD).

EDIT: Soon after this rumor started Nintendo has brushed off these speculations with "We are always developing new products. However, since nothing has been announced officially, we are unable to comment at this time." Though Ninendo usually replies to these sort of rumors with "Nintendo does not comment on rumours and speculation."

EDIT2: Oxygen Interactive MD's Kevin Hassall replies to this rumor with "We've had no confirmation from Nintendo on the European release of such a handheld, nor its exact specifications. But from a development perspective, our first question for Nintendo will be how the camera and, in particular, the music playback can be used within games."

Fireband Games' Pete Shea said "...Adding complimentary features to the existing design makes more sense than completely replacing DS..."

But tomorrow, October 2, Nintendo is having it’s annual Spring conference in Tokyo, where they are expected to release details of a new DS. And in the USA NOA (Nintendo of America) will have a two day event to coincide with the Japanese conference.

Warioland: The Shake Dimension (or Warioland: Shake It! in North America) came to Wii a couple days ago (unless you live in Japan and it came out 2 months ago), and to advertise this new title, Nintendo chose to go to Youtube.

The video starts off as a normal ad, but soon with Wario smashing his way though the levels, smashes Youtube as well. The site literally breaks apart. And after all that's done, you can grab the different sections of Youtube and through them around.

Hmm, new DS... I might have to get me one (after they stop being almost $200).
Also, on the YouTube video: It's not really an actual YouTube page. It's the ExperienceWii's homepage with a flash "game" at the top that does the smashing. It's still really cool though.

A....digital camera in a DS? Now THAT is pure-awesomeness.

But seriously, how many versions of the DS do we need?
