9th installment of a MEGA series
By Bob - 11500k

Capcom's Nintendo Power magazine have announced that everyone's favourite blue
robot, Mega Man, will have a new unreleased incarnation on Nintendo’s WiiWare service, Mega Man 9!

Much to the delight of many fans, Nintendo Power has revealed that Mega Man 9 will be using the classic 8-bit graphical style for it to blend in with the previous Mega Man games.

The storyline is rumoured to be along the lines of the previous games but in this one Dr. Wily is attempting to frame Dr. Light on a string of recent robot attacks and Mega Man needs to figure out who is the ghastly fiend behind these planned attacks.

The title will be developed under the studio name Inti Creates, whom are familiar with the Mega Man games, having previously worked on the Mega Man X series as well as Mega Man ZERO and ZX titles.

There will be all new bosses in this new game, including Magma Man, Plug Man, Concrete Man, Jewel Man and (the first female boss in the series) Splash Woman.

There is not set release date as of yet.

I'm not. I don't get how people can get excited and be happy about a new 8-bit game in 2008. They [Capcom] are just being lazy. "So we don't have to do any real work, let's just take our old as dirt sprites and base most levels on older ones too!"

Yeah, I know it does sound lazy, but what's so bad about making a classical game? There are a lot of Game Maker games with classic looking sprites.

you call laziness, to something that has been in development in years? i dont, they are PURPOSELY going for the classical look, they seem to be spending alot of time on game play and depth, if those 2 things are great, it will be easy to overlook the PURPOSELY dated graphics

I only have one thing to say:

Edit: Oh, and you people seem to misunderstand what I was saying. There's nothing wrong with classic games. Heck, I still play my SNES. However, using 8-bit in 2008 is just lazy on there behalf. Besides, it's not classic if it's release date is in the future.

I don't get what you're trying to say about that picture? They're lazy because the level design similarities or the fact that the whole background is one colour? Or both?

Wait what?

how is not classic if its release date is in the future?

it can be made 3000 years from now, and as long as it looks and feels classic

its classic

Okay. Here, listen to some "classic" rock: It's classic!
Or play "classic" racer: It's classic!

It has to be old to be classic. Being made to look old doesn't mean it's classic. Because, what is "looking old" anyway?

To be classic, it needs to feel nostalgic. I think so anyway...

To be classic, it has to be old. That's the point I'm trying to get across.

Me and my sister have some of the mega-man games...who cares if the background is one color: it's easy to see so you won't die. I'd get the game too!
